Clubhouse valued at US$4bn following funding round


The audio-only chat app, which allows users to create invite-only chatrooms, has seen its popularity boom in recent months following its use by several high-profile figures including Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg

Clubhouse, an audio-only chat app, recently closed a funding round that reportedly values the company at approximately US$4bn.

A report from Reuters overnight credited a source familiar with the matter for the multi-billion dollar figure, after the company announced the closing of the funding round at a town hall on Sunday without stating the amount raised.

The fundraising was led by venture capital firm , with other major investors including internet-focused private equity group DST Global, Tiger Global Management and angel investor Elad Gil.

Founded in April last year, Clubhouse, which allows people to join audio-only discussions through invite-only chatrooms, saw its popularity surge in the first months of 2020 thanks to its use by multiple high-profile figures including () boss Elon Musk and () founder Mark Zuckerberg.
