European Lithium Ltd stepping up resource extension drilling at Wolfsberg Lithium

A second rig is due to start early next month as part of an extensive program aimed at upgrading and increasing resources.

() (FRA:PF8) (VIE:ELI) is stepping up resource extension drilling at the Wolfsberg Lithium Project in Austria with a second rig to begin operations early next month.

An ongoing drilling program is aimed at increasing the existing JORC-compliant reserves at the project as part of definitive feasibility study (DFS) work.

As well as infill work, the drilling is expected to show extensions of the ore body for future drilling programs.

Fifth hole underway

Four drill holes have been completed and a fifth has started in a proposed 21-hole program that is expected to be completed by the end of July 2021.

This campaign began at the end of February with one drill rig from GEOPS and will be bolstered at the beginning of May with a second drill rig.

Drilling in progress.

CEO Dietrich Wanke said: “We are pleased with the progress of the resource extension drilling program at the Wolfsberg Lithium project and anticipate results will be available in the third quarter of this year.”

Program on target

The Weinebene/Carinthia area of Austria has experienced a long winter with thin snow cover but the company’s experienced drilling team has handled the conditions to ensure the drilling program is on target.

This team has managed higher than average drill speeds and very good core recovery, averaging greater than 98%.

As a result, the company has accumulated 1,690 metres of fresh core that represents around 20% of the total core to be recovered during the campaign.

An AHP vein at 248.7 metres contains big spodumene crystals.

Continuation of the vein that starts at 248.7 metres.

Logging of the core is underway simultaneously with all core cutting, sampling and labelling.

This work is being carried out in-house before the core is dispatched to the independent ALS Ireland laboratory for geochemical analysis.
