The floor covering specialist certain back office systems were affected and that a “small amount of data” has been extracted by hackers

PLC () shares slipped on Tuesday after the flooring firm said it has experienced a cybersecurity incident with unauthorised access to some of its computer systems.

The company said certain back office systems were affected, including the email system which has since been restored. The firm said external forensic cybersecurity experts have been appointed and investigations are ongoing, adding that the perpetrator is “a well-known newer organisation which has carried out multiple such incidents recently”.

Headlam added that there is currently evidence that a “small amount of data” has been extracted by the hackers and that it has notified relevant regulators and law enforcement agencies as well as the Information Commissioner’s Office.

In a note, analysts at Peel Hunt retained their ‘buy’ rating and 410p target price on the firm, saying they expected the impact of the incident is “likely to be minimal” and they “did not see this changing the investment case or having an impact on the numbers”.

Headlam shares fell 1.9% to 356p in early deals.
