Equiniti Group PLC names Secure Trust boss Paul Lynam as new chief executive

Paul Lynam replaces Guy Wakeley, meanwhile, David McCreadie succeeds Lynam at Secure Trust Bank.

Group PLC () has appointed Paul Lynam as its new chief executive, with effect from April 1.

He is replacing Guy Wakeley who is stepping down with immediate effect, as present independent non-executive director Cheryl Millington takes over as interim chief executive until the end of March.

Lynam will join from PLC () where he’s being succeeded as chief executive by David McCreadie with immediate effect.

“I am very pleased that Paul has agreed to join EQ as chief executive,” said Philip Yea, Equiniti chairman.

“Prior to STB Paul led a range of diverse businesses including Lombard asset finance and the SME banking business of NatWest in the UK.

“He was one of the founding directors of UK Finance, the recognised trade body for the UK Financial Services industry. We are delighted to have attracted someone of Paul’s experience to lead the group.”

In a separate statement, Secure Trust chairman Lord Forsyth said: “STB is today a well-capitalised bank with strong positions in attractive market segments and very high customer satisfaction, well-placed to grow in the years ahead.

“When the time comes Paul will leave with our best wishes as he moves to take on his new role.”

Forsyth added: “David brings substantial banking, personal finance, consumer facing business and governance experience acquired in his previous roles, as well as deep knowledge of the markets in which we operate.

“His appointment, in line with the board’s succession plan and following a year as a non-executive director, marks the start of a new chapter in the STB story as we emerge from a turbulent year.”

McCreadie, meanwhile, added: “Since joining the Board I have got to know the business well and have been hugely impressed by how the whole group, under Paul’s leadership has navigated the unprecedented circumstances of 2020.

“They have done so with a relentless focus on supporting both our customers and each other and I look forward to building on that momentum as I take the group forward.”
