 () has completed a detailed geological mapping and sampling programme at the Hamersley iron ore projects in Australia. Field observations indicate that the BHP 19 and BHP 20 prospects may be part of a larger system and additional prospective iron ore units have been mapped at the Brockman iron project.

 () has provided an update on Newcrest’s drilling campaign at Greatland’s Havieron deposit in the Paterson region of Western Australia which includes the best intercept at the project to date. The AIM-listed precious and base metals exploration and development company noted the release of an ASX announcement titled ” Newcrest Quarterly Exploration Report”  by Newcrest Mining Ltd earlier on Thursday.

Shares in Kaz Minerals () rose to an 18-month high of 625p, after it was revealed that the company is to be taken private by a consortium led by two directors. The offer is priced at 640p per share and is being recommended by the company’s independent directors.

 () is progressing with its proposed new joint venture with Özaltin Holding A.S. and with Proccea Construction Co. Özaltin will be acquiring 53% of both the Salinbas project and the existing Zenit Madencilik joint venture which is currently owned by Ariana in a 50:50 partnership with Proccea.

 () said its12%-owned associate Labrador Iron Mines Holdings (LIM) has started work on a Preliminary Economic Assessment for its Houston project in Labrador, Canada. It is the first development of LIM’s assets since production halted in 2014 because of the low iron ore price, said Anglesey.

Chaarat Gold PLC () said it is changing focus to hit its production target this year due to the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, which is 150 kilometres from its Kapan gold mine in Armenia. Artem Volynets, Chaarat’s chief executive, said that In preparation for any possible operational disruptions during this current quarter it is targeting higher-grade ore at Kapan to offset potential lower capacity through the plant and to ensure that full-year guidance is met
