N.J. man who killed his parents, then gambled with their money, gets 41 years in

A Warren County man who killed his parents, then took their credit card to a casino, was sentenced Tuesday to 41 years in prison, according to a news release.

Todd Warner, 51, beat and stabbed his parents, Frank and Joyanne Warner, in their home in Washington Township. The parents were 73 at the time. They had invited their son to live with them.

After killing them, Todd Warner took one of their credit cards and headed to Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, where he gambled.

The parents’ bodies were discovered Oct. 27, 2019. Todd Warner was captured the next day when he was found gambling at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pa.

He was sentenced to 36 years in prison for each of two counts of first-degree murder, according to the news release from Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer. Those sentences run concurrently to each other but consecutive to a five-year sentence for fraudulent use of a credit card, the release says.

Warner pleaded guilty to the charges on Sept. 16, 2020. Judge H. Matthew Curry imposed the sentence recommended by Pfeiffer, the release says.

Warner was represented by attorney Carrolyn Fiorino of the county public defender’s office. A message left with that office wasn’t immediately returned.

Frank Warner was a well-known hair salon owner and was beloved by his employees, clients and colleagues. His wife helped at the salon. They were two months from retiring when they were killed.

Todd Warner had struggled with alcoholism and a gambling addiction, according to those who knew him.
